Explorando Teatro es una emocionante aventura de ocho semanas diseñada para niños de 1º a 6º grado. Este programa único sirve como una clase de inmersión en español, presentando a los estudiantes los conceptos básicos de la actuación mientras aumenta su confianza. Cada clase lleva a los estudiantes a través de actividades divertidas que exploran sus habilidades naturales, guiándolos a descubrir un mundo de imaginación usando su voz, rostro y cuerpo. Cada clase será impartida por dos actrices profesionales bilingües de Sacramento que las prepararán para el último día que incluirá una ceremonia de graduación y una actuación para familiares y amigos.
Explorando Teatro is an exhilarating eight-week adventure designed for kids in grades 1 to 6. This unique program serves as a Spanish immersion class, introducing students to the basics of acting while increasing their confidence. Each class takes students through enjoyable activities that explore their natural abilities, guiding them to discover a world of imagination using their voice, face, and body. Each class will be taught by two professional bilingual actresses from Sacramento preparing them for the final day which will include a graduation ceremony and performance for families and friends.
Class will take place on Saturdays from 10:30a-12:00pm starting on March 2nd and ending on April 27th. There will not be class on March 30th.
Meet the Teachers:
Yesenia Lopez is a graduate from Sacramento State where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Yesenia is a great enthusiast of the theatre and a devoted lover of the performing arts. She feels fortunate to have worked in several professional productions. Some of her artistic credits include Reyna in “Zoot Suit” (Teatro Espejo), Odessa in “Water by the Spoonful” (Sacramento State), Minerva in “En el Tiempo de las Mariposas” (Milagro Theatre), Paulina in “The Island in the Winter” (Bag&Baggage Productions), and Alejandra in “¡Alebrijes!” (Milagro Theatre). Yesenia is delighted to be back in her hometown of Sacramento, where she had previously worked as a Project Manager in Portland, OR. She is incredibly excited for this opportunity to inspire a love for acting in this Spanish immersion class for children, cultivating creativity and confidence through enjoyable activities.
Giselle Colmenares Vizcarra graduated from CSU, Sacramento obtaining a B.A. degree in Theater Arts. During her educational trajectory she learned tremendously about herself as a Chicana woman in theater. Giselle has had the opportunity to participate in theatre and arts organizations such as Teatro Nagual, Teatro Espejo, the Latino Center of Art & Culture, Capital Stage, B Street Theatre and Sacramento Theatre Company. She’s incredibly excited to share her knowledge and love for live theatre with her community.
