As part of STC’s inaugural Innovation Series, this new play puts a spotlight on one of Sacramento’s most infamous serial killers, Dorothea Puente. The innocent-looking Sacramento woman operated a boarding house in the 1980s and was ultimately found guilty of murdering several of her tenants.  Written by playwright, Mark Loewenstern, extensive research has uncovered elements of Ms. Puente’s temperament and personal relationships which crafts this play, reaching deep into her personality and gives us new insight into a murderer who does not fit the common definition of a “Serial Killer.” This special, limited engagement stars Janis Stevens as Dorothea and is directed by Benjamin T. Ismail.
