Pre-Professional Ensemble Company

The Pre-Professional Ensemble Company (PEC) is a comprehensive 10-month training program (August-May) for students in grades 4 through 7 who are interested in learning and performing in a professional theatre environment. PEC’s weekly classes in Theatre, Dance and Music (which include voice technique, repertoire building, and music theory) are led by professional directors, singers, dancers and actors. The Pre-Professional Ensemble Company offers students the experience of participating in a fully-produced musical or play with sets, costumes, and lighting on either the STC Main Stage or the STC Pollock Stage as well as opportunities to audition for age-appropriate roles in STC’s professional shows.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the tuition?

Once accepted into the PEC program, there is a $250 non-refundable Enrollment Fee to register the student into the conservatory. Tuition is $2250 which can be paid either in full or monthly over the 10 month program (August-May). There are financial aid and scholarship opportunities available.

What is the class schedule/commitment?

PEC classes take place on Saturday mornings from 9am-12pm. Students spend the morning rotating through Acting, Vocal, and Dance class. Occasionally, there are additional masterclasses and events that take place on other days as scheduling permits. Additionally, there are sometimes classes for our YPC (high school) program that become available for PEC students to audit throughout the week.

What is the rehearsal schedule/commitment?

PEC students are able to audition for the shows in our Youth Series and age-appropriate roles in the Main Series and Cabaret Series. Youth Series shows rehearse Tuesday through Friday 4:30-7:00pm and occasionally on Saturdays and Sundays before performances. Students will not be called for every rehearsal, as we try to only call students who are needed for the day. A weekly schedule will be sent out each Friday for the following week. Students are allowed 2 conflicts per production. Students will receive a calendar with all rehearsal schedules once they are accepted into the program, and will be able to audition for the shows that they are available for.

What is the audition process?

Acceptance into PEC is based on audition. Auditions for PEC take place starting in May and conclude in July prior to the start of the season. Once accepted into PEC, there will be General Auditions at the start of the year where students will audition for the specific shows in the season.
