STC’s mission is to strive to be the leader in integrating professional theatre with theatre arts education. And because STC produces engaging professional theatre while using theatre as a tool for educational engagement, we have created an arm of our Young Professionals Conservatory focusing completely on Technical Theatre and Design.
The program is designed a 10-month program (August-May) for 9th-12th graders interested in pursuing a career in technical theatre. Throughout the year, students will work with our professional Production Team members and rotate through departments each quarter. Students will have 2 core-classes each quarter that will each meet once a week, plus additional extra curricular classes and masterclasses that students can choose to participate in. Students will have classes in Theater History, Theatrical Design (in all departments), Set Building and Painting, Costuming, Lighting, Sound, and Stage Management, plus additional masterclasses with special guests, and the ability to take an acting class from our Performance program.
