Can’t Get Enough Musical Theatre? Join our Summer Musical Spectacular: The SpongeBob Musical!

Summer is here at Sacramento Theatre Company! And while our season may be over, our staff is gearing up for all of our various summer activities!

We’re very excited to roll out our very first Summer Musical Spectacular for teens starting in mid-June. The experience is open to all 8th-12th grade students (grade in Fall 2022) and all roles are open to all genders.

SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Squidward and all of Bikini Bottom face total annihilation—until a most unexpected hero rises to take center stage.

No Experience Needed!

While you will be putting on a show from start to finish, you do not need to have previous stage experience to participate in The SpongeBob Musical, adapted from the iconic Nickelodeon series! Students will learn about the audition, casting, and rehearsal process from the ground up.

Behind the Scene Production Experience

As part of the production process, they will have regular meetings with the production staff as the various parts of production come together: set, costumes, lighting, props, etc.  It is truly an immersive experience, giving both opportunities to act but first hand production experience alongside theatre professionals. Whether seeking to pursue an acting career or simply exploring new possibilities for creativity and fun, the SpongeBob Musical Summer Spectacular at STC welcomes young people to join our supportive community of theater artists.

Set rendering of Bikini Bottom: Students will assist in constructing the set at the Historic Eagle Theatre in Old Town Sacramento!

Meet the DIRECTOR/Prorgram Manager

Miranda is thrilled to bring The SpongeBob Musical to the School of the Arts. “Students can’t get enough of theatre. We wanted to give our students and new students an opportunity to have the same experience we have during the season, performing on the main staged, in an intensive type program.” She goes on to add, “SpongeBob is just the most fun show so we’re excited to just have so much fun all summer long, singing, dancing and being under the sea.”

At the helm of The SpongeBob Musical is Miranda D. Lawson, YPC Program Manager and STC Associate Artist. Originally from Florida, Miranda holds a BFA in music with a concentration in Musical Theatre. A proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association, she has been a teacher for more than a decade and has devoted much of her time and talent to the education of students in the arts.
